RAMILIA

Our Farm

BioAgriturismo Ramilia, a family-run farmhouse, is set in a 16th-century historic masseria located in Contrada Ramilìa, in San Cataldo, just a few kilometers from Caltanissetta.

The BioAgriturismo takes its name from Mount Ramilia, which rises at the foot of the namesake district, located at the heart of the mining area between Serradifalco, Sommatino, and San Cataldo — a land rich in descenderies leading to the old sulphur mines.

The ancient masseria, where our organic agritourism now stands, once belonged to the Baglìo family, one of the most prominent families in 19th-century Sancataldo society. In the early 1900s, the family owned two sulphur mines and several estates across the areas of San Cataldo, Caltanissetta, and Campobello di Licata.

In 1955, our grandfather purchased the land from the heirs of Baroness Gangitano, a descendant of the Baglìo family.

ALMOND AND OLIVE

FARM BUSINESS

Today, our organically managed estate covers 16 hectares: 6 hectares are dedicated to almond, olive, and pistachio groves, while the remaining 10 hectares are used for arable farming, primarily for the production of bundled oregano. Now in our third generation of farmers, we are committed to preserving the land by following natural production cycles and using gentle, non-invasive farming techniques — ensuring authentic, wholesome products made the traditional way.
